After the start of the volcano eruption on La Palma on September 19, the Spanish Red Cross emergency intervention teams are working in the area along with volunteers in coordination with the authorities.
Support is mainly provided for shelters, logistics, emergency health care, psychosocial care, search, and rescue. So far, 6,000 people have been evacuated, but this number is expected to double and reach 10,000 people. More than 700 houses have been destroyed.
